Collinsville’s Cruz Morrison – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by J & K Equipment

Collinsville’s Cruz Morrison

Cruz Morrison, a Collinsville High School senior, considers himself a “man of God” first, a wrestler second.

“I pray before my matches or anything that shakes my nerves,” said Morrison, “and He helps me with confidence and strength to win.”

His faith and his sport have taught Morrison a lot about life. One aspect of his life that has blossomed through high school is his natural work ethic.

“The work you put into practice is going to come out in those matches,” Morrison said. “Just like the saying goes, ‘practice makes perfect.’

“Hard work pays off,” he says, and understanding that lends him maturity that spills into every component of his life.

“Wrestling has taught me how to overcome difficult situations,” Morrison said, “Just realizing that a match is only six minutes means you can go your hardest all the way through it.”

Because of his dedication, Morrison’s senior year is going according to plan.

“It’s my best year so far, but it sucks it’s my last,” Morrison said. “Coach Evans has put us through a lot of conditioning to help us stay strong through that third period.”

This year, Morrison is eyeing a gold medal and won’t let anything step between him and the pedestal.

In his free time, Morrison also enjoys playing golf for leisure. After high school, Morrison plans to go to college, get his degree and achieve financial independence.
