Collinsville’s Addelyn “Adde” Davison – Athlete Spotlight

Collinsville High School’s Addelyn “Adde” Davison is already embracing a team-first mindset as she prepares for her sophomore season, combining versatility on the field with a strong sense of purpose off it.

Davison, a utility player who has spent time in center field, shortstop, second base, third base and even catcher, takes pride in doing whatever her team needs. That adaptability, she said, is rooted in a simple belief.

“I have always believed that the best ability a player can have is availability,” Davison said.

Her approach to the game reflects maturity beyond her years. Whether tracking a ball in the outfield or reacting to situational plays in the infield, Davison focuses on constant improvement and awareness. She also brings a thoughtful strategy to the batter’s box.

“I like to think that hitting is kind of like playing chess,” she said. “If I prepare for everything, then I shouldn’t be surprised by anything.”

Davison’s development as a player is matched by her commitment to team culture. She credits her parents as her biggest inspiration, shaping how she interacts with teammates and competitors alike.

“They both try to do the right thing and treat people the right way,” she said. “I like to try to emulate that both in the dugout and just in life.”

That mindset translates directly to her role within the Cardinals’ program. Davison emphasizes encouragement and effort, noting that positive energy can elevate an entire team.

“I have found that trying to lift other people up in sports can go a long way in building a good culture,” she said. “Effort is contagious.”

Davison said one of the most important unwritten rules she follows is to always hustle, regardless of the situation.

“You never know who is watching,” she said. “I want to be known as a player who hustles.”

The Collinsville sophomore thrives in competitive environments, particularly when representing something bigger than herself.

“I like playing for something bigger than myself,” Davison said. “The name on the front means a lot more than the name on the back.”

She also embraces the energy of a packed crowd, adding that the louder the atmosphere, the better she performs.

Off the field, Davison enjoys spending time with friends, working on her game and participating in cheer, where she experiences the excitement of Friday night lights from another perspective.

Within the team, she points to strong leadership and camaraderie as key strengths. She highlighted Molly Cavanaugh as a vocal leader, while Brya Downing and Cadyn Ford help keep the team loose and energized.

“I’m lucky to have great teammates,” Davison said.

Davison believes athletics have taught her resilience, a lesson she plans to carry into the future.

“It’s not always going to go the way you think it will,” she said. “If you just work, keep your head down and give everything you have, you should be good.”

She also credits Collinsville’s coaches, teammates and community for shaping her growth.

“Collinsville is a special place,” Davison said. “People here care about representing the community the right way.”

As she looks ahead, Davison is focused on helping lead the program forward under new coach Natalee Fuller, with confidence in what lies ahead.

“We are working on getting back to where Collinsville used to be in softball,” she said. “If I have anything to do with it, we are going to make some noise.”
