Collinsville track and field standout Kynzie Christian will be aiming for a state
championship as a senior in 2023-24. Christian finished seventh in the shot put event as a
junior with a distance of 36-05.50 and was also a state qualifier in the discus throw. She is
the daughter of Collinsville coaches Ryan and Jennifer Christian.
VYPE: What were your goals for this last season?
Kynzie: My biggest goal for the season was to win state in the shot put. I also have been
working really hard to hit 40ft in the shot put.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Kynzie: One thing track has taught me was that you don’t have to take everything so
seriously and have some fun while doing it.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Kynzie: My teachers throughout my high school career have been amazing, but no one
compares to Coach Lindblad, or I like to call him Coach L. Coach is my 11th grade English
teacher and why I chose him is because he made English class fun and relatable.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Kynzie: My parents have helped me a lot with my athletic choices, so them being coaches
themselves, they always push me to be the best athlete I can.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Kynzie: I would definitely say Anna Appleburg. She is just a freshman and goofball, but she
is there for me when I need someone to talk to and push me through practice.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Kynzie: What I love so much about Collinsville is that we all get along and support each
other in our own individual events. We may not be the biggest team but we are the
proudest.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do
you take with you?
Kynzie: I would definitely have to choose Hawaii and I would take my mother. She is the
most hardworking and passionate person you will ever meet. She deserves a nice Hawaii
vacation.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Kynzie: I think why I’m so passionate about it is because I have always loved lifting weights,
and throwing is a good way to use all that anger and strength I have built up.

Kynzie: I would have to say thank you to all my coaches who got me this far in the
throwing career. To my last year throwing Coach Upky, my swimmer Coach Barns, my
weights and conditioning Coach Harlson, and my now throwing Coach Washington.
